ETI puts its coating expertise to good use to answer the needs of another innovator
JUNE 2021 - ET Converting Equipment recently delivered a second converting solution in two years for a client who specializes in electrical component manufacturing.
In 2017, the U.S.-based business contacted ETI looking to manufacture in-house its own adhesive coated material for product labeling. The strategic wants were plural: production independence, capacity to fabricate made-to-measure labels (otherwise not feasible with standard label stock), and reduction of its environmental footprint.
Convinced of the gains in self-sufficiency and functionality it would get from a Cohesio setup, its team closely collaborated with ETI to develop a viable and more sustainable solution.
After numerous trials and tests at the ETI Technology Centre, as well as at the client’s facility, ETI presented a solution that replaced the solvent-based adhesive with an acrylic-based, UV curable adhesive.
In 2019, the innovation-hungry manufacturer rang ETI again, this time with an even bolder challenge and a totally new labeling solution. On top of Cohesio’s already distinct station arrangement, the system had to incorporate automated “pick-and-place” modules for custom web placement of elements. Despite the complexity of integrating robots in the processing chain, engineers delivered on all fronts with an advanced system that answered the client’s every wish. Installed earlier this year, this one-of-a-kind custom solution is fully operational and running smoothly.
This twice successful partnership between ETI and its client showcases what can be accomplished when collaboration and innovation go hand in hand.
