ETI Brings Inline Manufacturing to Linerless RFID Labels with Cohesio
Cohesio's modular design brings coating, RFID inlay insertion and converting together, allowing converters to build the RFID label construction inline from raw materials rather than relying on pre-made laminate and multiple production steps.
AUGUST 2026 - Converters have used ETI's Cohesio platform for years to build label constructions inline, from raw materials to finished labels, without relying on pre-made laminate. ETI Converting Equipment is now extending that same inline approach to linerless RFID labels, enabling converters to manufacture them using raw materials and dry RFID inlays. The approach gives converters greater control over material costs and the final label construction, while reducing their reliance on purchased laminates and additional converting steps.
In conventional RFID label production, converters typically start with purchased pressure-sensitive laminate and dry or wet RFID inlays, then use additional converting steps, including delamination and relamination, to integrate the inlay. With the Cohesio RFID configuration, silicone coating, RFID inlay insertion, adhesive coating, and finishing are integrated within one continuous process, allowing converters to build the full construction directly from raw materials. The RFID inlay is integrated and protected within the finished label construction.
As RFID adoption expands across sectors such as retail, logistics, and apparel, ETI sees linerless RFID as a growing opportunity for converters looking to expand their capabilities and serve new applications.

The Cohesio platform also supports conventional pressure-sensitive RFID labels with a release liner, giving converters the flexibility to address both linerless and conventional pressure-sensitive RFID applications. Its adhesive coating capabilities include hotmelt, UV-curable acrylic hotmelt, and water-based acrylic adhesives, giving converters greater freedom to tailor constructions to different performance requirements and end-use conditions.
ETI will show a range of label samples, including RFID constructions produced on Cohesio, at its booth #718 at LOUPE Americas 2026, September 15–17, in Rosemont, Illinois.
